This is the first application with detailed maps from Google; basically, the service uses voice commands to provide constant driving instruction
The Motorola Droid is also one of the most technically advanced phones with Android OS at the present, since the manufacturer has equipped it with a capacitive touch screen of 3.7 inches and resolution of 854 × 480 pixels, a full QWERTY keyboard, a 5 megapixels digital camera and, thanks to the capabilities of Android 2.0, it includes a dual-LED flash, autofocus and image stabilization as well.
The video capture function of the Motorola Droid now gains relevance through the YouTube widget on the main display that supports recording, even at maximum operating system level. The new Motorola Smartphone also includes 3G, GPS and Wi-Fi and support for Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR technologies as standard and a 16GB microSDHC card for large data storage capacity.
Verizon will be the exclusive carrier for the Motorola Droid in the U.S. and it promises not to modify the Android 2.0, allowing to be provided with mobile applications by the Android Market, Amazon MP3 for music downloads and a deep integration with Facebook. The only significant addition that Verizon will provide is its Visual Voice Mail service.
Verizon also makes very clear its intention to directly compete with the iPhone 3G S by selling the Motorola Droid for $200 when purchased in conjunction with a voice and data plan of at least 70 dollars per month. The new Motorola Droid it available at Verizon stores since November 6.
So far, the Droid is reported to be an excellent phone, and although we would not say it's the best on the market, many users will be totally satisfied with this handheld. There are only a few minor problems reported, and as we all know Google is devoting many resources to improve Android day after day. The application store seems to be great, the phone is solid, the image quality of its camera is not bad and getting used to the device is very easy.
Although it is not the perfect phone, it is certainly a valuable option on the market, and has nothing to envy from most other devices.
