Supposedly the successor of the Samsung D880 Duos, the Samsung B5702 is yet another Dual SIM Phone to be released by Samsung or so details have been leaked saying as such. Featuring a promising design and specification list the Samsung B5702

Samsung announced its first "DUOS" dual-SIM phone about 18 months ago with the Samsung D880, and finally Samsung have upgraded their first DUOS phone with the new Samsung B5702.

With a set of two LED’s positioned at the top of the phone above the screen that indicate which SIM card is currently in use the Samsung B5702 offers a more pratical and intuitive design which is aimed at business users.

This is the second version of a dual sim card phone, nearly a year and half after the last release of the Samsung D880. Using a slide design to reveal the keypad, it looks very much like other releases in the Samsung range, so nothing really new in the design.

At first glance, the B5702 looks quite old-fashioned, clearly inspired by the Samsung D500 from 2004, this particular style of slider used to be very popular, but we haven't seen it for a few years now. In fact, the B5702 looks very much like the D800. But is it different underneath?

A close examination of the technical features of the D880 and B5702 shows that there is very little difference. The B5702 has a 2.4" 240 x 320 pixel display, a 3 megapixel camera, microSD expandable memory, Bluetooth and a multimedia player in addition to those all-important twin sim slots.

Samsung B5702 Duos offers a large 2.4" 256K TFT QVGA display and provides two external LED lights that indicate which SIM card is being defaulted for calls and messages. Another specific dual SIM feature is dedicated side key that's used for choosing which SIM card to use for communication without rebooting the phone.

The improvements are minor, the B5702 has a slightly larger screen than the D880 and now both SIMs support quad-band GSM, plus the B5702 supports microSD cards of up to 8GB. A few other minor improvements seem to have been made, and the B5702 has a slight makeover. But otherwise, the B5702 is basically very similar to the older DUOS phone.

Samsung B5702 also boasts various multimedia functions including an MP3 and MPEG4 players, an FM radio with RDS and a 3 megapixel autofocus camera. Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP and a document viewer complete the rest of the specifications.

Despite the slightly old-fashioned looked, the Samsung B5702 does pretty much everything that you might want a GSM phone to do. The two main drawbacks are this: the B5702 doesn't support 3G, and at 14,000 roubles (or around €310) it's a little expensive too. But if you want to have two SIMs in one phone, then the DUOS is a good choice.
